Headteacher's Weekly Update
As we head towards the end of this second school term our Year 11 students are working hard preparing for their GCSEs. Written and practical coursework in DT, Business Studies, Health and Social Care and Computing has been completed. Students have also been undertaking English speaking tests, Music and Drama performances, practical assessments in PE and a two day exam for Art and Textiles. Written exams begin in May and continue into June. They are working hard, well supported by staff and families, and we wish them all well as they move into the main assessment period.
Elsewhere in the school students have been busy representing our school community in many disciplines; Maths Challenges, the Mock Bar Trial Competition, student leadership conferences with SWISS schools and many sporting events. Our Facebook page and Twitter feed will give more details of all achievements.
Our students also impress us with their support of other people. Duke of Edinburgh candidates have all been learning new skills and volunteering; they are preparing for expeditions in the summer and showing great team work. Our peer mentors are working alongside younger students to develop skills and confidence. We have just said farewell to our own ‘Elmer’, part of our campaign to raise hundreds of pounds for St Elizabeth Hospice; look out for him at the Suffolk Show and on the Elmer trail in Ipswich over the summer.
Our summer term starts on Tuesday 23rd April.
