Headteacher's Update
We have spent our assembly slots this week reviewing all of the successes of the term and year, from excellent effort and performance in classes to high attendance and all of the trips and events that students have been involved in and their generous donations to a range of charities. Read more in the current newsletter. Thank you to all of our 750 students who make this school such a warm and welcoming one and also to all of the staff who work tirelessly, often beyond the hours expected of them, to make all of this happen. Thanks also to parents and carers, governors and the wider community who support us in a variety of ways.
We have also enjoyed some splendid musical events, with "Mince Pies and Music", welcoming members of the local community in to enjoy some recitals from a range of musicians as well as enjoy some home baked wares. Our Christmas Concert was very well attended and there were some excellent individual performances, ensembles and whole cast numbers - thoroughly enjoyed by all. Many of our guests joined in with our Advent Calendar task for the day and left a happy note or thank you letter for other people. They were lovely!
2019 has been a busy year for the school and in particular for the year 7s who joined us and have made a fabulous start to their time at high school. 2020 will be another important year especially for our year 11s who will be taking their exams and moving on to new challenges. We wish all of our students a very successful 2020 and hope that some of their new year resolutions relate to challenging themselves to be confident, conscientious and compassionate.
The school is closed for the whole of the Christmas break and we reopen to students on Tuesday 7th January when we will be following a week 2 timetable.
We wish you all a Happy Christmas and a restful holiday.
