Duke of Edinburgh - Qualifying Expedition
On a wet and windy Saturday morning on the 8th June, students met at Snape Maltings car park to begin their two day assessment weekend where they were tested on their DofE skills, including: map reading; pitching and striking tents; and cooking outdoors. After walking all day with heavy rucksacks, students started to arrive at the campsite in Eastbridge in the early afternoon where they pitched their tents and cooked their evening meal. After dinner, students seemed to spend most of the evening feeding the cows straw as the campsite was located on a working farm! By contrast, Sunday was a lovely day and students had to be careful not to get sunburn. The groups arrived at their final destination in Southwold in the late afternoon and early evening.
All the students and staff did a fantastic job and a great weekend was had by all. Very well done!
